We’re delighted to see so many of you using the cards already. Hopefully this message will help clarify some of the questions arising in the group. Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback, comments and assistance so far.
We’re aware there are big improvements to be made on user experience overall, stay patient while we work through this. So you are all aware, we are currently working on a new App deployment for later this month which will include a number of fixes and improvements as well as some new functionality.

Digital Subscription Rebates
*Please note that the digital subscription rebate product is still a work-in-progress. If you’re not OK with this - please wait a month or two while we have the initial teething issues worked out.
How much and in which currency will I get the rebate paid back to me?
Up to $12 US per subscription per month, paid to you in HI. If the monthly fee for your subscription costs less than the equivalent of $12 US, you will receive that amount.
Will I receive the rebate amount instantaneously?
In some cases yes, in most cases no. In the near future all will be automated and almost instantaneous. We’re working through this functionality at the moment.
My subscription rebate amount is not showing in my Transaction History, what do I do?
Please fill in 👉 this form. Don’t forget to include the amount of your subscription, and ideally a payment screenshot, you’ll then be credited the rebate amount in the future.
Can I choose to pay for an annual subscription, as it is cheaper?
At this point, please choose monthly payment options only. In the future we will look to offer other options for you.
Can I change subscriptions?
Yes you can, on a rolling 30 day basis. But again, it’s recommended to hold off on jumping around between subscriptions until we get everything running more smoothly.
Do I get Cashback as well as a rebate when I pay for my Digital Subscription?
Yes currently, you receive both Card Spend Rewards (Cashback) and Rebate. The cashback will be credited to you instantaneously.
Which Digital Subscriptions are available?
Those you see in the hi App. Please note to qualify as a subscription, the service must offer a monthly fee. We understand there are complexities with several of the subscriptions, please allow us some time to work through them.
When will digital subscriptions rebates be automated?
You should assume that both this month and next will not have an optimal experience. Thank you for your patience.
If I pay for a digital subscription using Curve, do I still get the rebate?
No, you will need to use your hi Card to pay for the digital subscription directly.

Card Spend Rewards
Will there be changes to Card Spend Rewards in 2023?
All benefits, including Card Spend Rewards are subject to change. Where relevant, we will consult the community before introducing changes. We understand it’s important that existing members have a clear understanding of the benefits available before recommending hi to friends.
Will hi introduce new referral incentives to encourage me to refer my friends?
Yes, new referral rewards and incentives will be introduced very soon with a view to rewarding existing members for introducing new people to hi.

Card Restrictions
How/where am I not allowed to use my Card?
We would like you to be able to use your card at any merchant that accepts Mastercard.
However, Card Spend Rewards (Cashback) will not be given for the following:
- Money transfers
- Manual cash
- Automated cash
- Financial institutions
- Brokers, Stocks, Bonds
- Cards / Wallets top-ups
- Timeshares
- Gambling
We may add to this list over time.
What happens if I already used my Card for one of these types of transactions?
We are completing a review of accounts and will share more information soon. Action will be taken against members who clearly abused the Card Spend Reward system.
